Your first steps with EDU.FYI
EDU.FYI is an AI-powered education platform built around one idea — your Agentic Self: a persistent, personal AI persona (also called your agent) that grows with you from your first day of class through your early career. It's student-created, student-controlled, mobile-first, and completely no-code.
- Connect your university account and switch into EDU.FYI mode
- Build and voice your own AI agent
- Complete the Kickoff Convo and grow its Depth
- Use Abilities, AI Lectures, AI in Projects, and Clockworks
How this guide works: scroll straight through, or move step by step with the Back and Next buttons (or your left/right arrow keys). Your progress saves automatically, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Connect your university account
EDU.FYI lives inside the FYI app. After creating or signing in to your FYI account, link your school account to unlock EDU.FYI mode — there's no separate EDU account to create.
Open Profile, then tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap Connect EDU Account, then tap Connect.
Select the email provider used by your university and sign in with your school account.
Follow the guided EDU.FYI tour after the connection finishes.
To switch modes later, go to Profile, tap your name, choose EDU.FYI or FYI.AI, and wait for the page to refresh.
EDU.FYI is where you "Chat with AI Agents, listen to AI Lectures, and start discussions inside projects created by your school."
Good to know
Authentication runs through your university's own email and password — your school credentials are what unlock EDU.FYI mode.

Take the quick guided tour
On your first visit, EDU.FYI points out the essentials with a short set of tooltips. Here's what each one is telling you.
-
EDU Tab
Access your school's AI Agents and Lectures from the EDU Tab.
-
AI Agents
Chat with AI Agents designed by your school, built specifically to support you and your academic journey.
-
Agent Tab
Build your own AI Agent with the traits, knowledge, and abilities that match how you think, work, and learn.
-
Projects
Access your courses and school-related projects under the new EDU tab in Projects.
-
Switch modes
From Profile, tap your name to switch between EDU.FYI and FYI.AI modes.
The app at a glance
The AI tab is where you build and talk to your agent. In EDU.FYI mode, an EDU tab surfaces your school's agents and lectures, and a top switcher shows EDU · AGENT · CONVOS · RAIDIO.

Build your Agentic Self
The AI tab is your home base. Tap Start Building to create your agent — appearance, name, and voice — with no code.
Tap Start Building on the AI tab (or "Try a FYI Persona" to begin from a ready-made one).
Choose Use FYI or Use Nvidia Jetson to continue to the persona builder.
Create its appearance from a text prompt or a reference image, then generate your 3D avatar.
Create from Template is visible in the builder, but selecting it currently shows Coming Soon.
Refine your prompt or choose another image and regenerate until the result feels right.
Give your persona a name. If you chose Nvidia Jetson, follow the pairing guide after setup.
The goal: "Create your AI persona with the traits, knowledge, and abilities that match how you think, work, and learn."
Good to know
Image generation has a daily limit — if you see "Generation Limit Reached," come back later. You'll see your creation called both a "persona" and an "agent"; they mean the same thing.

Give it a voice
Choose how your agent sounds. Everyone can pick a ready-made preset voice; custom voice generation is available only on Pro and Premium plans.
Open the voice menu and choose a Preset Voice — play it to preview.
On Pro or Premium, create a custom voice by recording or uploading a voice sample.
Verify the sample and submit it for processing, which can take up to two hours.
Use a temporary preset voice while your custom voice is processing, if needed.
Confirm your choice to finish creating your persona.
Good to know
A preset voice is the quickest way to finish setup. Custom voices require an eligible plan and will not be available immediately after submission.

Complete your AI Persona Setup
AI Persona Setup is completed through the Kickoff Convo — your agent's first real conversation with you. It gives a brand-new agent critical context about your goals, preferences, and mission.
From the Agent Dashboard, tap Complete Kickoff Convo.
Join the voice call and answer the prompts about you, your goals, and what you want help with.
Return to your dashboard, now showing your persona, its Depth, recent Convos, and quick actions.
A human and an agent together are the new workforce. Your Agentic Self is a persistent teammate that reflects you — not the institution, and not the algorithm.
Good to know
Treat the Kickoff Convo like introducing yourself to a new study partner — the more context you give, the more useful it becomes right away.

Grow its Depth with your own knowledge
Depth measures how effective your agent is — its emotional intelligence and creative dynamism. It's shown as a percentage with a classification: a brand-new agent starts as a "Generic AI Agent" and levels up as you feed it your own knowledge.
The Knowledge screen combines broad expertise with your own material. Choose subjects and topics your persona should master, then add files, links, and personal context to make that knowledge specific to you.
The Depth screen breaks your score into four dimensions:
- Human Insight Integration — depth of human understanding vs. surface-level data processing.
- Emotional Intelligence — capacity for empathy, emotional depth, and human values.
- Lived Experience Evidence — real-world grounding from your own documents and materials.
- Creative Dynamism — originality and range in how it responds.
To raise it, add your own material and follow the screen's Recommended Actions:
Select subjects and topics — choose areas such as Math on the Knowledge screen, then tap Save.
Add Files & Links — PDFs, documents, transcripts, textbooks, and relevant URLs.
Add detail to your Persona Mission — a clearer purpose strengthens every conversation.
Add Beliefs & Passions — the interests and reference materials that shape its worldview.
Add Word Replacements — signature phrasing that makes its voice unmistakably yours.
Good to know
Use both approaches: subjects and topics establish broad expertise, while your own files, links, mission, and perspectives make the persona uniquely yours.

Unlock your agent's Abilities
Abilities are the tools and integrations your persona can use to take action. They are grouped by purpose, and you control which ones are active.
Abilities are organized into four main categories:
- Content Generation
- Communications Hub
- Notes to Action
- Learning Support
Open the Abilities tab on your persona.
Choose a category and open an ability to learn what it can access and do.
Toggle on the abilities you want and connect any required account or device.
Ask for the ability in a Convo using a direct request, then review any confirmation before it acts.
Good to know
Availability depends on your account, plan, school, connected services, and devices. Only abilities you enable can be used by your persona.
What each ability can do
Enable only the tools that fit your workflow. Some abilities require permission to access another service, your contacts, a meeting, or connected hardware.
Content Generation
Research, create, and turn ideas into useful outputs.
- Text/Voice to ProjectBuild a new project or add generated material to an existing project from one text or voice prompt.
- Web SearchSearch current sources and synthesize relevant findings into a clear response.
- Build a Web AppDescribe a landing page or small site and have the Snap agent build, deploy, and share a live URL.
- GPS & NavigationFind places, calculate routes and ETAs, and open turn-by-turn directions on your phone or CarPlay.
Communications Hub
Connect your persona to the people and services you use.
- Slack Integration Coming soonRead mentions, search channels, send messages, and respond through your connected Slack account.
- Text/VoIPCall or message contacts on your behalf, collect their feedback, and summarize the result.
- Google Integration Coming soonWork with Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs to find, send, create, or edit content.

Education workflows to try in a Convo
“Research how sleep affects learning and memory for my psychology paper. Search credible academic and health sources, compare what they find and flag where they agree or have limitations, then write me a cited research brief with a paper outline and a few follow-up questions I should look into.”
“Use my biology project notes to build an interactive study app for cell division. Review my relevant project blocks, notes, and files, organize the material into flashcards, a quiz, and a progress checklist, then build and deploy the app, share the live URL, and revise it based on my feedback.”
“Join our Google Meet study group for tomorrow's history exam. Follow the group discussion, capture the key concepts, unresolved questions, and the topics assigned to each person, then send me a summary with action items and a shared revision plan we can all work from.”
“Every weekday at 7 PM, prepare my study plan for the next day. Review my upcoming course deadlines and calendar events, prioritize the work by due date, effort, and importance, then build a focused study schedule with reminders, post it in my Convo, and adjust future plans based on how much I get done.”
Add your Agent to group and 1-to-1 chats
Bring your Agent into an existing conversation so it can answer questions, summarize the thread, use enabled Abilities, and run Clockworks with the people in that chat.

Invite it into a conversation
Open a group or 1-to-1 chat, then tap the chat title or the other person's name.
Scroll to the Agent section and tap Add <your Agent's name>.
Review and accept the terms if you agree to them.
Return to the chat and look for the message confirming that your Agent was added.
Take it out of one chat
Open the chat details, scroll to your Agent, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Remove.
Turn Agents off for the thread
Open the chat details, find the Privacy section, and turn off Enabled Agents in Chat.
Use your Agent once it joins
Assign a task
@Agent, summarize the last three hours of this conversation.
Ask a follow-up
Reply directly to an Agent message when you need clarification or another version.
Create or research
@Agent, generate an image of a pink sky over a white-sand beach.
Automate the thread
Mention your Agent to schedule a reminder or recurring workflow connected to the discussion.
Good to know
You can add your Agent only when Agents are enabled for that thread. In group chats, you may also interact with another member's Agent when their permissions allow it.
Turn any project into an AI Lecture
Your agent scans all the blocks and files in a project and turns them into an audible, interactive lecture you control.
Make sure EDU.FYI mode is active. To enable AI Lectures for a project, open its menu, tap Edit Project, and use the AI settings.
Open the project menu, tap AI Lectures, then tap Generate AI Lecture.
Wait for generation to finish — you'll receive a push notification when the lecture is ready.
Use the playback controls to play, pause, skip, or jump to a topic from the segments dropdown.
Ask questions or add supporting files from the lecture using Chat/Mic and Add Files.
Lecture settings let you change the voice personality, playback speed, and whether media is shown. You can also regenerate the lecture with your updated settings.
Good to know
Lectures pull from the project's own content — text, documents, links, and images — so they stay grounded in your actual material.

Bring your agent into your projects
With AI in Projects, your companion becomes a native participant in your course materials — not a separate chat window off to the side.
Open a project — for example a course like HIST 220 or MUS 101.
Tap the AI Widget to ask questions answered from that project's own data.
Use Voice AI to talk it through, or attach a specific project block for context.
Move between tabs — Project, AI, Calendar, and Discussion — and even build web apps inside a project.
Good to know
Because it reads the project's own materials, answers stay grounded in your actual course content — every lesson, assignment, and resource becomes collaborative.

Put your agent on the clock with Clockworks
Clockworks (formerly called Tasks) are repetitive or scheduled actions your agent runs in the background — like a weekly phone call or a standing report.
Create a Clockwork by asking your persona to perform a scheduled or recurring workflow.
Filter your Clockworks by date range, ability category, or status.
Track each run as In Progress, Completed, Cancelled, or Failed.
Open a Clockwork to review its live status and step-by-step progress.
Manage the run by cancelling an upcoming execution, reviewing completion summaries or failure logs, or using View Conversation to return to the original chat.
Your agent can also handle calls. Assign it a Callback Number so it can place and receive calls on your behalf.
Good to know
Giving your agent a phone number lets it make calls for you. Callback functionality — having it receive incoming calls — requires a premium plan.

You're set up — and there's more
That's the core loop. As you go further, a few extra tools are worth knowing about.
Publisher Tool
How university officials create and publish personas and lectures for the student body.
Compose & Clips
Generate audio clips in your persona's voice; Stylized text weaves in its signature expressions.
Jetson GPU
Connect local hardware to keep sensitive data private on your own network and host deterministic services.
